1st Annual Mustard Alternative Writing Workshops
October 3, 2008, SAIT Campus

The Mustard Alternative Writing Workshop is a oneday annual event, presented
by Dandelion Magazine Society. It features writing instruction by established and published authors in fringe writing endeavours ranging from radical and visual poetry, to graphic fiction, to publishing chapbooks and scriptwriting. Our  goal is to provide training and experience in non-traditional forms of literary endeavour, and to generally foster a spirit of innovation, creativity and inspiration
within the literary arts.

The Mustard Alternative Writing Workshop is aimed at young writers and visual
artists between the ages of 16 and 24.

Located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mustard’s focus is on encouraging the
development of local and regional talent, but with an inclusive approach, drawing
upon instructors of local, national and international renown.

In 2008, featured workshop leaders included derek beaulieu, Suzette Mayr, ryan
fitzpatrick, Gary Burns, and Riley Rossmo.  The event also included a plenary speech
by Christian Bök.
